To the averted eyes

Firefly Frolic by Patricia Allingham Carlson Please follow and support.

The wind blows,
And an expectant leaf,
Catches a beat,

One more autumn leaf,
Trampled happily under,
soft snow-like feet.

Another star dimly,
Shining, burning,
Lost in the crowd.

Just another firefly,
Lost to the flame,
Burning, but proud.

The mayfly finally dies,
And dying, thinks only,
Of the nectars it tasted.

A fragrant flower,
Wilts but thinks not,
its fragrance wasted.
